Say NO to United Nations' abolishment of Traditional Chinese in 2008

even though i am a student of the simplified Chinese but i do not feel that it is acceptable to abolish the traditional Chinese. yes, the traditional Chinese might be a huge pain in the ass to study, but think about it, the characters really do tell us a story. every word is a story, if you don't believe me just check out certain traditional words.

besides, Chinese is one of the few languages that could be learnt without being able to speak the language. Written Chinese is unusual in being the only major modern-day writing system not based predominantly on an alphabet or a compact syllabary. as long as you understand the "picture" of the word it represents, you will be able to make out what the sentance or word.

when i was studying Chinese back in the primary school days, i admit, i abhorred Chinese homework and calligraphy. my ignorance suffered. however, as i grew older(i may not be very old..) but i realise the beauty and importance to study Chinese. I AM CHINESE. and i am proud of it. be proud of your heritage and culture. if you are Chinese, don't, i say DO NOT be ashamed of it, think about it;

you are a part of a history dated way back 5000 years ago, one of the world's oldest continuous civilizations.

you are part of the largest community in the world. there are approximately 1million in china excluding the rest of the world.

you are the people who invented paper, the compass, gunpowder, and printing.

someone once told me, we, the Chinese are the special people of the world. God loves us very much and thus gave us the brains and the capability to be where and who we are now. so treasure it, and do not throw it away.
